Founder’s Note

Dear Visitor,
Thank you for checking out Synthesis Publications! This company, I dare say, emerged out from the following: miscommunications, website glitches, eccentric banter, occasional late night workshops, awkward introductions, creating and editing long after dark, cumbersome promotions (that didn’t always work), arguments over website layout, and the worst of all, unsteady Wi-Fi. But then there was the laughter, friendships, chaotic Instagram group chats, and the sense of belonging and warmth to distract us from the insanity of 2020.
Here, we discuss any topic ranging from politics to fantastical realms, the weird and the vastly ordinary: so, time for a proper introduction. Our organization cannot be summed up in a single string of words, or even a couple of sentences. More so, without the “oh-we’re-just-high-schoolers-seeking-for-some-form-of-a-moral-compass-while-we-express-our-internal-struggles-through-a-random-website-on-the-interwebs,” Synthesis is a safe haven for all creators in-between, including Swifties, cottagecore diehards, medieval trendsetters, indie fanatics, and the such.
To our readers: we are incredibly grateful that you have found us. In the vast planet of the World Wide Web, not to mention, social media, we know that the hunger for publicity can taint the content you see online. Followers on Instagram, or likes on Tweets--it would be a lie to say that we didn’t care. However, we strongly believe in valuing the quality and ingenuity of our space over the size of our audience.
This adventure began as an attempt to simply share our works. We later realized that in our desires to fulfill this task, we could launch a platform that would reel in readers from all over the Internet. Every employee (myself included) tried their hand at different “mediums,” from analytical essays to short stories, from oil painting to photography. We hoped that Synthesis could serve as our study vessel as we traversed the vast world of art. Thus, the journey begins…
And it is both yours and our responsibility to keep our ship afloat.
Best regards,
Elise Tao
